England national team are still looking for their first win in UEFA Nations League. They played 0-0 against Croatia in Rijeka yesterday. HNK Rijeka Stadium was totally empty, because of Croatia’s UEFA ban. This match was open to dignitaries,UEFA officials and press only. If fans were there, they would surely chant Croatia songs, reminding the English players about their loss in Moscow. Moreover, Croatian players were in the center of the public opinion lately related to false testimony.
Kayne and Rashford not good enough
Marcus Rashford, man of the match against Switzerland, found the net against Spain in England’s defeat at the beginning of the group stage. Some people say that he “left his shooting boots” at home, due to his squandered chances on this match. He failed to score twice and give England an edge over their opponents. Croatian 23 year old goalie Dominik Livakovic stopped him twice and saved his net. Rashford ruined two great chances for England, or Livakovic was just too good in those situations.
England’s skipper Harry Kayne also left his shooting boots at home. It’s been said that he is involved in too many matches lately and feels very tired. According to stats from the first half, Harry Kayne was the player with fewest contacts with the ball than any player on the pitch. It seems that he used “off the ball” tactics. It might be related to his over-burned condition, and he just looked uninterested.
In addition to that, hi was simply unimpressive form in the first half. But, Harry Kayne is a captain, a fighter, and was very close to opponents goal. He almost scored with a header in the second half, but Croatian goalie was lucky, Harry’s header went against the bar. England national team coach Gareth Southgate have utmost confidence in him, despite Harry’s dreadful game against Croatia.
